Mining Futures Collaborative
The Mining Futures Collaborative was envisioned to empower Indigenous youth from Northwestern BC to explore careers in mining through immersive experiences.
Below is an overview of the inception and 2026 collaborative, industry led initiatives.
2026 Roundup Field Trip
Grade 11 & 12 students from School Districts 82, 87, and 92, along with their respective chaperons, will be exploring jobs in the BC mining industry, campus life and the future of the industry. The Field Trip will take place January 2026 and includes guided post-secondary institution tours, one-on-one time with industry leaders, a visit to the Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) Roundup Conference to participate in the MineralsEd Secondary Student Career Exploration Day, and interactive activities.
Mining Futures Collaborative
The Mining Futures Collaborative (MFC) was created in 2025 with the vision to provide an immersive introduction to the mining industry and its related jobs and post-secondary training pathways for Northwestern BC secondary students. The MFC expanded on the original Grade 11 & 12 Nisga’a Field Trip experience, started in 2024, to include additional school districts, more post-secondary training tours, and a richer industry experience.
